Thirteen years ago, I began to work on SharePoint projects. During those times, SharePoint is an underdog. It is commonly known as a tool to create website pages and store documents, making SharePoint a technology that is usually underutilized with so much untapped potential. But for SharePoint enthusiasts like me, I view SharePoint as a vital tool not only in the world of collaboration.
On top of the usual use cases, SharePoint can be like a Swiss army knife. SharePoint professionals of different backgrounds and strengths can create many projects for Intranet, Extranets, business process improvements with customized forms/workflows, integrated to other tools, etc.
From Office Server Extension, WSS 2.0/3.0, SharePoint 2007,2010,2013, 2016, 2019 to SharePoint Online, we as SharePoint professionals know that the road beyond will not be easy. Again, there will be new hiccups and detours to cover, new changes or deviations to anticipate or a new learning curve to accomplish.
The past is very crucial since it made SharePoint as strong as it is today. The horizon becomes more apparent when SharePoint is used with other technologies like PowerPlatform, D365, O365, etc.
Overall, the fearless forecast for SharePoint is that it will continue to radiate in the world of collaboration and digital transformation.
