Food Treats for Your Cats: What You Should Know

 

1. Oats

Plain oats are a good source of vitamin B. As an occasional treat for your fur baby, oats will surely boost your cat’s energy. Oats are quite high on carbohydrates, but make sure to give it in small quantities.

2. Cooked Meat

Cooked meat is a good source of protein for cats. For better digestion and nutrient absorption, remove the skin or any fatty part of the meat. A slice of lean meat like the chicken has a high-calorie source. Beef and pork are also safe for cats to eat. Condiments or spices are not to be added when cooking.

3. Cooked fish

Cooked fish is a good source of animal protein and omega 3. Keep in mind that fish should only form a fraction of your cat’s natural diet. Fish contains high levels of fatty acids that can lead to a Vitamin E deficiency in cats, so only occasional feeding in a small amount is recommended. When cooking, do not add any condiments or spices.

4. Cooked Eggs

Cooked eggs are protein and vitamin B boosters, which can be added to your cat’s mealtime routine. Give it only as a treat since a high-calorie diet is not advisable. Do not add any condiments or spices.

5. Cucumber

Fresh cucumber has nutrients and high water content to help your cats digest better. A small slice per week is suggested as a treat for your pets. Overfeeding may cause gastrointestinal upset.

6. Cooked squash

This food, which is a good source of fiber, helps your cats to cough out fur balls or hairballs. One good example is a cooked squash or pumpkin. It has low calories, but is rich in fiber, making it a healthy treat for your feline.
