Microsoft Loop – A New Collaborative app

During any Microsoft Ignite, people working in information technology are commonly looking for breakthroughs, new tools, or roadmap announcements for existing products. One of the new applications introduced at Microsoft Ignite 2021 is Microsoft Loop.

At first sight, some features are similar to existing non-Microsoft products like Notion, ClickUp, etc. But since I am using mostly Microsoft products for work and personal productivity then this Microsoft Loop got its slot in my tabs.

As we know, Microsoft heavily focused on collaboration for the past years. During the pandemic, they created Loop to support more the new way of working remotely, and soon it will be included in Microsoft 365. Though Loop is still in the early stage it seems the features presented like workspaces (for grouping ideas into projects), pages (for organizing components) & components (lists, tables, notes) are interesting already.

I also anticipate that Microsoft will provide new guidance on when to use Loop and integrate better with the other Microsoft apps that are slightly comparable to it like Microsoft Lists, Project Online, Planner, etc.).

For now, my assessment on Microsoft Loop is that it is interesting to use during the initial phase of a project, POC, MVP, daily scrum, retrospective, etc. However, it will need additional features to cover complex projects and integrations.
